She did not have a father, and her mother died when she was just a baby, so she did not have a name. She stayed in an orphanage until she was twelve, then she had to leave. She ate garbage until she met a poor man named Norm. Norm did not have a family, but he did have a small shack by the dumpster. Norm took care of the girl until she was fifteen, which is when they found out she had breast cancer! Norm had already been working hard to pay for food, how would he pay the medical bills? The only choice was to sell every thing he had, and that’s what he did. Once they got to the hospital, the girl had to lay down on a bed, and the doctors stuck two little tubes up her nose to make sure she kept breathing. She was going through a lot of pain. Six months had gone by, and she was still in pain. Norm walked over to the girl and said,” Fight it, you can do it. Live up to your name…Hope.” After that, the girl’s name was Hope. One of the doctors saw what Norm did, and offered for them to stay at her house until they had enough money to afford a house of there own, if they would be a part of the Help Prevent Breast Cancer campaign. Norm was stupified. Two months later, Hope fought away breast cancer, and both Norm and Hope went to, for the first time, something they could call home.
